The Kingdom of Jordan lies in the south-western segment of Asia. It is bordered by Syria to the north, Iraq to the east, Israel to the west and Saudi Arabia to both the south and the east, with amazingly diverse scenery. See some of it with a 3-hour jeep tour through Wadi Rum and see the ancient rock drawings that are found in the 720 square kilometers (278 square miles) that make up this amazing desert destination. Known also as “The Valley of the Moon,” Wadi Rum is inhabited by Bedouin, and you are invited to relax and partake of a specially prepared Bedouin meal in one of the goat-hair tents that spot the landscape. Another stop on a trip to Jordan ought to be the Al -Deir Monastery, north of Petra’s city center. Dedicated to the Nabataean King Obodas, you have to get the walking shoes on to reach the monastery. It means climbing eight hundred steps, but the work-out is well worth it just to see the panoramic view of Wadi Arabia and to enjoy the mountain-scape surrounding the monastery which served as a temple for centuries.
